We started preparing for the IARU VHR Contest several weeks in advance. We really wanted to make more than 20 connections in the contest. :) The result of 92 connections and 28 thousand points is our best result we have achieved in our short modern history. However, we still feel we can do better. We are constantly looking for a competitive spot and improving our antennas.

This year’s Field Day was attended only by Dusan, OM3WAK, for our radio club, as I (OM8WG) am a member of a contest team in our partner radio club OM3KTR and I always go this contest with them on the 144 MHz band, where I take it in turns with Juraj, OM2XA.

Finally, the time for the first VHF contest in 2019 arrived, the time of the 1. Subregional Contest. Due to the fact that we obtained our licence only in December 2018, this was our first contest also in the series of Slovak championships in VHF operation.
